Parakeets

Logan Scott Borowicz was born at 8:30 Am, July 2, 2005. He weighed 6 lbs. 12.5 oz. and measured 20.5". Mom and baby are doing great :-)

As long as I can remember I have always known who Jimmy Buffett is. I’ll go to school and no one else has a clue who he is. Whenever I’m in the car with my dad listening to music (which is almost always Jimmy Buffett), I can’t help but sing along. Once I went to the movies with my friends and we had to drop one home afterwards. All I can remember is my friend thinking I’m a freak because I actually liked songs sung by an old guy.

My dad, in my opinion, is completely obsessed with Jimmy Buffett. He owns a large amount of Jimmy Buffett things. Every year my parents have gone to a Jimmy Buffett concert and I have begged and begged to go. Hopefully now that I am fourteen I will be able to go (Key word being hopefully).

I remember the last time we went to Disney. We were just leaving Universal Studios and we saw a sign that said Margaritaville. We went in, we didn’t have time to grab a bite to eat, but we did go look around in the store. Everything was Jimmy Buffett (a field day for my dad). We ended up leaving with parrot fins for everyone, burger key chains for the kids, and at least two t-shirts.

My parents are my heroes. So, maybe because I look up to them so much is the reason why I like Jimmy Buffett. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. (Ha Ha Jimmy Buffett humor). Maybe he’s just a good-looking bad guy with cool tunes. Who knows? But what I do know is I really like Jimmy Buffett.

Hi Parrotheads!

My name is Hannah Stallings and I'm only 9 months old. My “proxy” grandma, Ann Stacey
is a member of the Nautical Whalers Parrot Head Club and LOVES Jimmy Buffett.
She says if I could talk…I would tell you I do too!!

Ann says that just because I can’t eat cheeseburgers, shrimp or drink margaritas, I can still listen to Jimmy Buffett music anytime I'm at her house and learn about what parrotheads are all about – the love of people, helping with community, charities and just living the whole “Jimmy” way of life!
When I get bigger, Ann is going to bring me to a beach clean-up so I can meet her parrothead friends and she promises to take me on one of her “secret” rides in the car to Onset to look for some pirate or something?? I guess we have to be very careful and sneak around so we don’t scare the parrots. Hey…maybe the pirate is “Captain Morgan” who she is going to introduce me to when I grow up.

(By the way….the outfit was my “own” idea!)

Kyle says that he likes being a parakeet for
the following reasons. He enjoys the beach
cleanups we do. He also said all the people
he meets have been fun. He also said there
were a lot of fun things to do at the Fall River Cancer Walk.

As far as some of the things my wife and I ENJOY about being Parrot Heads there are many. AS FAR AS THE CANCER WALK that is something that is very close to my heart, as my mother is a cancer survivor. So it gives me great pride to be involved in a group that
makes that much of a commitment to a such needed cause. The weather could have been better but it still didn't seem to dampen anyone's spirits as we stayed and walked through the wind and rain.

Another plus about belonging to the Nautical Whalers is that there is a great feeling in being involved with people who have the same outlook as I do. We not only get together for parties and socialization, but we also tackle environmental issues and many other needed causes. I would probably have to say one of the most fulfilling feelings I have about being a parrothead and a member of the Nautical Whalers is the friendships my wife and I have developed. I feel the friendship that we have developed with Maureen and Brian and a few others goes beyond belonging to a certain club. SO I IF YOU WERE to ask me what being a parrot head means. I WOULD have to say it means getting together with people that care about people and the
environment, Have a good time listen to Buffett and creating relationships that hopefully last a lifetime. Richie
